- Digital X-Rays
Digital X-Rays
What is it?
Digital X-rays are a cornerstone of science-based diagnostic workups and care plans. Dr. Schmidt uses computer-aided annotations directly on the images to show patients exactly what is happening in their spine—from ligament damage and arthritis to vertebral misalignment. Modern digital X-rays deliver less radiation than older traditional film X-rays, can be viewed on any device, and are shared with patients after their report of findings. Many patients request to have their x-rays sent to their phones so they can show them to friends and loved ones.
Who is it for?
All new patients, as well as those who have previously been treated elsewhere, without ever having X-rays to confirm their diagnosis or assess their structural health.
Benefits
- Modern digital x-rays deliver less radiation than older traditional X-ray
- Annotated images you can clearly understand
- Identifies disease stage on a clear timeline
- Digital copy provided to each patient
- Tracks structural improvement over time
- DRMA (Digital Radiographic Mensuration Analysis)
DRMA (Digital Radiographic Mensuration Analysis)
What is it?
Digital Radiographic Mensuration Analysis is a precise, computer‑assisted method of evaluating spinal X‑rays. Using specialized software, spinal alignment, curvature, joint spacing, and structural imbalances are measured down to the millimeter. This detailed analysis helps identify biomechanical stress, ligament injury patterns, and functional abnormalities that may not be visible through a standard visual review alone. DRMA provides objective, reproducible data that supports accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and documentation for personal injury cases. DRMA is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA).
Who is it for?
Patients who have suffered spinal injuries or spinal trauma from motor vehicle accidents, workplace accidents, or contact sports, postural strain, chronic pain, suspected structural imbalance, and especially those with unexplained pain or negative MRI and X-ray results. DRMA is especially valuable for personal injury cases, where objective findings are essential for documenting spinal ligament injuries, spinal instability, or abnormal motion patterns. It sets forth a more accurate treatment plan.
Benefits
- Objective, measurable assessment of spinal alignment
- Improved detection of ligament injury and instability
- Clear documentation for personal injury cases
- More accurate treatment planning and progress tracking
- Identifies subtle biomechanical issues not visible on standard review
- Identifies injury severity and location with precision
- Spinal EKG
Spinal EKG
What is it?
We offer state-of-the-art Spinal EKG testing, which uses surface electrodes to measure the electrical activity of the muscles surrounding the spine. Developed by a NASA-trained researcher, the test detects muscle guarding resulting from injured ligaments, discs, and nerves. Dr. Schmidt uses Spinal EKG as a baseline for all spinal injury patients, and re-tests periodically during the course of treatment to track healing progress.
Who is it for?
Patients who have suffered spinal injuries from motor vehicle accidents, workplace accidents, or contact sports, especially those with unexplained pain or negative MRI and X-ray results.
Benefits
- Visual, objective proof of soft tissue injury
- American Medical Association (AMA)-recognized diagnostic standard

- Thompson Technique
Thompson Technique
What is it?
After studying your full-body findings from the advanced diagnostics (consultation, exam, digital x-rays, laser postural screening analysis) at your first visit, Dr. Schmidt determines your treatment plan. This adjustment technique uses specific manual table-assisted adjustments, instrument assisted adjustments and numerous other techniques will be utilized per Dr. Schmidt’s diagnostic and clinical recommendation presenting on each and every visit. It is fair to say that he doesn’t practice a “cookie cutter approach” with each and every patient. Experience goes a long way in a profession whereby a skill has to be learned, refined, and constantly improved. His technique is shaped by years of postgraduate training, clinical experience, and ongoing refinement of his skill set.
Who is it for?
Patients seeking a gentle, precise, and highly individualized chiropractic adjustment. This technique is ideal for those with postural imbalances, spinal misalignments, pelvic distortions, or mechanical back and neck pain. It is also well‑suited for patients who benefit from a lighter, more controlled style of adjusting, including older adults, individuals recovering from injury, and those who prefer a structured, evidence‑based approach to spinal care. Because each adjustment is based on that day’s clinical findings, this technique supports a wide range of patient needs.
Benefits:
- Gentle, targeted adjustments tailored to each visit
- Improved spinal and pelvic alignment
- Enhanced postural balance and weight distribution
- Reduced stress on joints, ligaments, and supporting tissues
- Supports long‑term spinal stability
- Consistent, reproducible technique backed by postgraduate training
- Intersegmental Traction (IST)
Intersegmental Traction (IST)
What is it?
Intersegmental Traction uses a specialized motorized table with rolling massage-style rollers that gently move up and down the spine. As the rollers travel up and down the spine, they rhythmically mobilize each spinal segment. Thus, improving joint motion, stretching tight ligaments, and enhancing circulation to the surrounding tissues that support the discs. At Schmidt Chiropractic Clinic, IST is often used before or after an adjustment to help the spine move more freely and to support long-term spinal stability.
Who is it for?
Patients of all ages dealing with stiffness, tension, postural stress, spinal arthritis, past spinal surgeries, or reduced spinal mobility. IST is also ideal for those who benefit from gentle motion before or after an adjustment. Because it enhances circulation and helps the spine move more freely, it supports nearly every patient’s spinal health and helps adjustments hold longer.
Benefits:
- Gentle, passive mobilization of the entire spine
- Improved flexibility and joint motion
- Enhanced blood flow to discs and surrounding tissues
- Reduced muscle tension and stiffness
- Helps chiropractic adjustments hold longer
- Relaxing, comfortable therapy suitable for most ages
- Spinal Decompression (AMFD)
Spinal Decompression (AMFD)
What is it?
Spinal decompression uses a specially equipped table to gently and rhythmically stretch the spine, relieving pressure on damaged discs and encouraging them to receive nourishment and expel waste. Dr. Schmidt also places his hands on the spine during sessions to deepen the stretch. This nonsurgical therapy is regularly referred to Dr. Schmidt by area orthopedic surgeons for patients who are not yet surgical candidates.
Who is it for?
Patients with herniated or bulging discs, sciatica, spinal arthritis, low back pain, spinal ligament injuries, and sports injuries that haven’t fully responded to standard chiropractic adjustments alone.
Benefits:
- Reduced disc pressure without surgery
- Comfortable, relaxing treatment sessions
- Supports disc nourishment and healing
- Helps adjustments hold longer
- Effective for cases prone to relapse
- Cold Laser Therapy
Cold Laser Therapy
What is it?
Our practice uses a Class IV, three-watt, FDA-cleared cold laser to deliver precise wavelengths of light to injured tissues. This safe, noninvasive therapy accelerates cellular reproduction, increases blood flow, and supports nerve regeneration. The healing properties of this laser combine the effects of ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, and heat therapy in a single session, and it is safe for use on exposed skin over multiple treatments.

- Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)
What is it?
Electrical Muscle Stimulation uses controlled, low‑level electrical impulses to create gentle, rhythmic muscle contractions. These contractions help interrupt the cycle of muscle spasm, reduce protective muscle guarding, and improve circulation in irritated or overworked tissues. By activating the muscles directly, EMS supports soft‑tissue healing and helps the surrounding structures relax so chiropractic adjustments can be more effective and longer‑lasting.
Who is it for?
Patients with muscle spasms, soft‑tissue strain, localized tightness, or restricted movement. EMS is also beneficial for patients recovering from sprain‑strain injuries, athletes with fatigued or overused muscles, and anyone who needs targeted muscle relaxation or improved muscle activation as part of their treatment plan. Because the intensity can be adjusted to each patient’s comfort, EMS is suitable for a wide range of clinical needs.
Benefits:
- Reduces muscle spasms and guarding
- Promotes muscle relaxation through rhythmic contraction
- Improves circulation to strained or irritated tissues
- Supports soft‑tissue healing and recovery
